The only reason my husband went to the Papa John's on East-West Hwy was because it was close to home - but the young Hispanic manager "Timothy" (manager on the receipt) - was rude and slightly racist. My husband is an African American Senior Citizen and was told by this young Hispanic boy that HE wouldn't accept my husband's roll of quarters in payment for his pizza...not that Papa John's wouldn't accept it - but that HE wouldn't from HIM being an African American.

My husband was going to leave and complain but it was late and he didn't want to stop anywhere else .. so he paid with bills he had ... he just wanted to get rid of the heavy roll of quarters. My husband asked the African American lady that was waiting on him - "Can you accept a roll of quarters?" Timothy's response from the back of the kitchen was "NO" as he moved closer to the front and the lady left the counter to deliver a pizza - "I'm not taking that".

My husband reminded the young Hispanic man that this was REAL American currency and he HAD to take his money - and Timothy said "No, I don't". My husband paid with dollar bills that I guess TImothy recognized better ... received the pizza and left. Needless to say - We live in DC and will never go to that Papa John's again.

Oh, by the way - The pizza was delicious !!

I think Timothy needs more training and Papa Johns should hire more respectful Hispanic Managers ... respectful to different races and nationalities - and to Senior Citizens (especially Senior Citizens that worked in Pizza Parlors ..."back in the day" when they were about the same age as Timothy) Thank you ~

Most places don't take rolled coins anymore. You are whats wrong with this country.

Every little thing that irks and it's a race thing. Fricking pathetic

I don't know of any retail establishment that accepts rolled coins! You are suppose to take your rolled coins TO THE BANK!

The bank can determine if the proper amount of coins are actually in the roll and exchange it for you.

And no, no establishment HAS to take your rolled coins, they can refuse any form of payment. The fact you are trying to make this into a race issue says a lot about your character!
